What’s the point of washing (body, hair and clothes) every day? I can hear some of your thoughts loud and clear. Well, stay safe and keep clean is the message I have for those of you working from home or (like me), are furloughed and so are still essentially house bound.
Some of you may be living on your own or with a partner, and you’ve become a bit sloppy in your personal grooming habits. Yes, I get it, you’re not going out to work or socialising and so you feel that you might as well live in the same clothes. If that old tracksuit, leggings, hoodie, sweatshirt, shorts or t-shirt could talk, it would be begging you it give it a break. No one expects you to dress up if all you’re doing outdoors is exercising or shopping and indoors, reading, watching TV or tic toking. We’ve all reverted to ‘lockdown gear’ as meeting new people or liaising with business associates has become a thing of the past. You’re probably hanging out with the same old people day in, day out, or no one at all. But that’s no excuse when it comes to maintaining personal hygiene standards.
Keep Clean: Personal Hygiene
It will simply make you feel better. From washing your hair, brushing your teeth to showering or bathing at least once a day, you can live with yourself without shame or disgust. Let’s face it, what we think of ourselves is just as important as what others think of us.
Keep Clean: Clothes
Dirty, smelly clothes on a clean body makes no sense. There is nothing more uplifting that pulling on freshly laundered under and outer wear (one a clean body, of course). Remember to wash at 60 degrees to kill all germs and don’t forget the bedsheets either. Understandably, there are some items which should only be washed at 30 degrees. In this instance, you can use Napisan which disinfects and destroys bacteria in your laundry.
Keep Clean: House
If living alone, it shouldn’t be too big a job to ensure that your surroundings are not just tidy but are also as germ free as you can make it. Mopping floors and wiping down surfaces with bleach or soapy water should be a regular occurrence to prevent transference of the virus from outside to inside.
Appearances may not be everything but it is a major factor in making you feel good about your environment and yourself.
